On Thursday night, the Winnipeg Jets will be visiting the Carolina Hurricanes, who have won five out of their last six games. Earlier this season, the Jets were able to beat the Hurricanes 3-1 on their home ice.

The Jets' offensive struggles continued against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday when they were shut out 3-0 on the road. They were 0-for-3 on their power play chances in that loss and they were held scoreless despite putting 29 shots on goal.

The Jets have only been able to score 1.8 goals per game this season, which is one of the worst scoring rates in the NHL. Center Bryan Little has been their best player by scoring five scores and assisting on six others. Netminder Ondrej Pavelec is 7-5-2 on the season with one shutout and an excellent 1.98 GAA.

On Monday, Hurricanes played well on both ends of the ice against the Calgary Flames and won 4-1 at home. They were 1-for-3 on the power play in that game and they finished with a 31-23 shot advantage.

Through 14 games, the Hurricanes are averaging 2.5 goals per game, but they have also given up three goals per game. Their top offensive player has been center Riley Nash, who has four goals and 11 points. Veteran netminder Cam Ward has a 5-3-1 record through nine starts with a 2.53 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
