The Washington Capitals will face the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night in a game between two evenly-matched offenses.

Last season, the Caps and the Canucks were each able to pick up a one-goal home win over the other. Each team scored a total of six goals in those two games, with Washington getting the last laugh by beating Vancouver 4-3 at home late in the season.

The Capitals once again have a strong offense this season, and they are near the top of the league in power play percentage. Star winger Alex Ovechkin has scored five goals in eight games against Vancouver in his career, while center Nicklas Backstrom has no goals and four assists in seven games against them. Netminder Braden Holtby has never faced the Canucks.

On Friday, the Canucks lost for the third time in four games when they were beaten 7-3 by the Colorado Avalanche on the road. They were 0-for-3 on the power play in that game and they allowed the Avs to get 48 shots on goal.

The Canucks' best player through seven games has been left wing Daniel Sedin, who has two goals and is near the top of the league in points with 10. Right wing Radim Vrbata has four goals and four assists through seven games. New netminder Ryan Miller is 4-1-0 for the Canucks with a .906 save percentage.
