The Washington Capitals will start the month of November with a trip to the Amalie Arena to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning.   

The Washington Capitals will come into this game fairly rested after last playing on Wednesday night.  But they will be trying to shake off the memories of a brutal 4 -2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings in that game. The Caps should have won that game and they know it.  After Detroit finally opened the scoring in the 2nd period, Washington scored 2 to take a 2 -1 lead going into the 3rd.  Things went downhill for the Caps in the 3rd as they surrendered 3 unanswered goals. Washington outshot and outhit Detroit but still ended up on the losing end.  And they won’t be able to afford any lapses against a Tampa Bay team that has been playing well so far this season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning looked good once again as they took a 4 -3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night.  Just 3:29 into the game, Tampa Bay put up their 1st goal of the night.  And after Philadelphia answered late in the 1st, Tampa Bay regained the lead in the 2nd.  In the 3rd, Steven Stamkos’ 2nd goal put the Lightning up 3 -1 but Philadelphia closed the gap with a goal to make it 3 -2.  Tampa bay extended the lead to 4 -2 and another goal by the Flyers was too little too late.  Tampa Bay was 2 for 5 on the power play and had 32 shots on goal.  Numbers like that will test the Capitals and could end up being too much for them to handle.
