The high-scoring Washington Capitals will go on the road on Saturday night to face the St. Louis Blues, who have one of the best defenses in the league.

During the 2013-14 season, the Capitals were able to defeat the Blues in both of their games against each other. Washington was able to easily win those two games, winning 4-1 both at home and in St. Louis.

Capitals right wing Alex Ovechkin has only played against the Blues nine times in his career, but has done well against them by botching five goals and nine assists. Defenseman Mike Green has two goals and two assists in four games against the Blues, while goalie Braden Holtby is 2-0-0 against them with a 1.00 GAA and a .974 save percentage.

The Blues have now won six of their last seven games after defeating the Nashville Predators 4-3 on Thursday night. They scored on one of their two power play opportunities in that win and they were able to outshoot Nashville 27-25.

Through their first 16 games, the Blues are near the top of the league in goals against by only giving up 1.9 goals per game. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko has a team-high 10 goals and a plus/minus of +14 so far this season. Backup goaltender Jake Allen is 5-1-0 this year with two shutouts and an excellent 1.67 GAA.
