The Washington Capitals will be playing in the final game of their three-game road trip when they go up against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

The Caps and the Rangers had a good series last season, with both teams picking up two wins from it. The final meeting between the teams was the most lopsided, when the Rangers were able to win 4-1 at home.

Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby has gone 2-3-1 against the Rangers in his career with a solid 1.89 GAA and a .943 save percentage. Star winger Alex Ovechkin has 17 goals and 15 assists in his 35 games against the Rangers, while center Nicklas Backstrom has accumulated 23 points his 26 career games against them.

On Sunday night, the Rangers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes for the second straight night by shutting them out 1-0 at home. Backup goalie Cam Talbot was the top star in that game by stopping all 18 of the shots that came his way.

So far this season, the Rangers are one of the top scoring teams in the league, but they are also have one of their worst power play percentages. Left wing Rick Nash has been by far their best offensive player this year by scoring 20 goals and providing 13 assists to his teammates. Netminder Henrik Lundqvist is 14-7-3 with five shutouts and a .912 save percentage.
