The Washington Capitals, who are 5-2 so far this month, will be going on the road on Tuesday night to take on the Florida Panthers. Earlier this season, the Capitals defeated the Panthers at home by the score of 2-1 in the shootout.

The Capitals have now won four of their last five games after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 at home on Saturday. The top star of the game was center Nicklas Backstrom, who scored his first regular season hat trick in the win.

Through 29 games, the Caps have the top power play in the NHL by scoring on 26.5 percent of their opportunities with the extra man. Backstrom now has eight goals on the year and is the team's top point man with 30. Goalie Braden Holtby has a 12-7-4 record this season with one shutout, a 2.38 GAA and a .915 save percentage.

The Panthers were able to come back from two goals down in their game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, but they still ended up losing 4-3 in overtime. Florida had just one power play chance in that loss and ended up being outshot 32-28.

So far this season, the Panthers have played well defensively and in goal, but their offense is only averaging 2.2 goals per game. Center Nick Bjugstad has been their best offensive player this year by scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists.
