Friday night, the Washington Capitals will meet the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. 

The Washington Capitals had a decent lead but blew it to lose to the Calgary Flames 4 – 3 in overtime on Tuesday night.  Calgary took the lead midway through the 1st period but Washington tied it up about a minute later. After Calgary regained the lead in the 2nd, Washington scored 2 unanswered to go up 3 – 2 entering the 3rd period.  But the Flames tied it up in the 3rd and scored the game winner early in the 3rd.  The loss was the 5th straight for Washington and there seems to be no real answer for the Caps’ troubles.  They outshot Calgary and went 1 for 3 on the power play.  But sometimes the puck just doesn’t bounce your way.  Once their luck changes, the Capitals might be able to string together some wins.

The Chicago Blackhawks overpowered the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night and were victorious by the score of 5 - 0.   Chicago started off slow but the momentum grew as the game went on.  After scoring a goal in the 1st and one in the 2nd, the Blackhawks broke the game open with 3 goals in the 3rd.  The win put an end to the Blackhawks two game slide and for once, they finally got the puck in the net after outshooting their opponents.  With another solid performance on Friday night against a slumping Washington team, the Blackhawks could get their 2nd win in a row.
