Saturday night, the Washington Capitals will hit the road to take on the Boston Bruins.  It will be the first meeting of the two teams this season.

The Washington Capitals will be playing just their 2nd game of the new season as they seek their 1st victory.  The Caps fought hard in their season opener but fell just short of the victory.  After taking 1 – 0 lead early in the game and holding that lead through the 1st and 2nd periods, they gave up a goal in the 3rd period that sent the game to overtime.  The teams needed more than overtime to settle the game and the Capitals ended up on the losing side in a shootout.   Overall, the Capitals had scoring opportunities but they couldn’t take advantage of them.  And those opportunities might be hard to come by against the Bruins.

Boston will come into this one slightly rested after opening the season with back to back games.  They won their season opener, but might have been too fatigued to put up much of a fight in their last game against the Detroit Red Wings.  The Bruins opened up the scoring late in the 1st period to take a 1 -0 lead but they couldn’t muster anymore offense after that. Detroit put up 2 goals in the 2nd and that was all it took.  Expect a rested Bruins team to be a lot quicker and a lot tougher against the Capitals Saturday night.
