On Saturday night, the Vancouver Canucks will be visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs in a game between two of the best offenses in the NHL. The Canucks and the Maple Leafs split their two-game regular season series last year.
In their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, the Canucks played well on both ends of the ice and came away with a 3-0 shutout. The most impressive part of that game was that they held the Penguins' explosive offense to just 21 shots on goal.
The Canucks are currently in the top 10 in the league in penalty kill percentage by stopping opposing power plays 84.9 percent of the time. Veteran goalie Ryan Miller has a very good 16-4-0 record this season with three shutouts, a 2.45 GAA and a .910 save percentage.
On Thursday night, the Maple Leafs had their two-game winning streak come to an end when the New Jersey Devils beat them 5-3 at home. They did have a 32-26 shooting advantage in that loss, but they also allowed the Devils to score on two out of their three power play opportunities.
The Maple Leafs have struggled on defense this season, but their offense has been able to average 3.4 goals per game. Center Tyler Bozak has had a great start to the season by notching 11 goals and 13 assists in just 25 games.
