The Vancouver Canucks, who have won four out of their last five games, will be going on the road to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. Last season, the Penguins won both of their games against the Canucks.
The Canucks scored one three of their four power plays on Tuesday to propel them to a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals on the road. Left wing Daniel Sedin had a great game in that one, notching two goals and one assist in the win.
Through their first 25 games, the Canucks have one of the better penalty kills in the league by stopping 84.3 percent of opposing teams' power play chances. Sedin has now scored six goals and notched 24 points on the season in just 25 games. Veteran goalie Ryan Miller has a 16-4-0 record this season with three shutouts and a .910 save percentage.
On Tuesday night, the Penguins won their second straight game when they shut out the New Jersey Devils 1-0 at home. They were outshot 29-23 in that win, but their penalty kill did well to keep the Devils scoreless on their four chances with the extra man.
The Penguins currently have the top power play in the NHL by scoring on 30.8 percent of their power play opportunities. Center Evgeni Malkin has had a great start to the season with his team-high 12 goals and his 18 assists.
