The Vancouver Canucks will be taking on the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night in an early-season Pacific Division matchup. These two teams played against each other five times last season, with the Kings winning four of those games.

On Thursday, the Canucks won their second consecutive game by beating the San Jose Sharks 3-2 on the road. They were 1-for-1 on the power pay in that game and won despite only getting 19 of their shots on goal.

The Canucks are currently third in the league in scoring with 3.2 goals scored per game. Their top offensive contributor has been center Henrik Sedin, who has five goals and a team-best 15 points through 14 games. Netminder Ryan Miller has had a great start to the season by going 10-1-0 with one shutout and a 2.20 GAA.

The Kings lost for the fifth time in their last six games on Thursday when they were beaten 2-1 by the New York Islanders in the shootout. Their offense was poor in that game, but goaltender Jonathan Quick was excellent by stopping 25 if the 26 shots he faced.

Through 14 games, the Kings have a top five defense by giving up just two goals per game. Quick now has a 6-3-3 record with a very good save percentage of .943. Left wing Tanner Pearson has nine points so far this season, which includes a team-high seven goals.
