The Toronto Maple Leafs just couldn't contain Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning the last time these two teams played each other. Stamkos' natural hat trick helped the road team pull off the 5-3 win.

Radko Gudas put the Lightning on the scoreboard first by netting his third goal of the season just 59 seconds into the game. Phil Kessel answered for the Maple Leafs less than three minutes later with his 35th of the year and Nikolai Kulemin gave the home side the 2-1 lead at the midway point of the period.

Then it turned into the Steven Stamkos show.

The Tampa Bay center scored his first goal on a power-play tally at the 13:22 mark of the first period. He was then able to get his second just two minutes later. He completed his hat trick about six minutes into the second period to put the Lightning up 4-2.

Jake Gardiner would get Toronto back to within one eight minutes into the third period, but Tyler Johnson's power-play goal at the midway point of the period sealed it for Tampa Bay.

Toronto defenseman Paul Ranger had to be stretchered off of the ice in the first period after Tampa Bay's Alex Killorn hit his head into the boards. The injury wasn't as bad as it could have been, as Ranger only ended up missing five games due to a neck injury.
