Tuesday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs will travel to the “City that never sleeps” to take on the New York Islanders.

The Toronto Maple Leafs come into this one after a less than successful home and home series against the Detroit Red Wings.  After losing last Friday night’s game 4 – 1 at home, the Leafs had an opportunity to redeem themselves in Detroit on Saturday night.  And for basically all of the game, they came close to doing that.  The game was a scoreless tie for all of regulation and the teams had to go to overtime to decide the winner.  And at 4:50 into the overtime period, the Red Wings scored the lone goal to win it 1 - 0.  The tough defense displayed by Toronto in the loss will certainly be needed against the high scoring Islanders.   

The New York Islanders will be looking for some redemption too after taking their first loss of the season.  Saturday night, the Islanders fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 3 - 1.  New York started strong and took the 1 – 0 lead after a Thomas Hickey goal.  But the Penguins scored two in the 2nd and added another goal in the 3rd as the Islanders high-powered offense sputtered against some tough Pittsburgh defense.  The Islanders will certainly try to get their offense back on track as they try to get back on the winning side of things.
