The Toronto Maple Leafs may be quite a bit better than the Florida Panthers this season, but the Panthers have been able to beat them in two of their three meetings this season. The last time they met, the Panthers won 4-1 on home ice thanks to three late goals.

Florida's approach was clear from the beginning when they were taking shots from any angle they could get them. They ended up more than doubling the Maple Leafs' shot totals by putting 48 on net while Toronto was only able to get 21.

After David Clarkson was penalized for slashing early in the second period, Tom Gilbert was able to put Florida on the board first with a power-play tally. Jesse Winchester would double the Panthers' lead five minutes into the third period off of assists from Brian Campbell and Scott Gomez. Clarkson would get one back for the Maple Leafs four minutes later, but an unassisted goal by Shawn Matthias and a late tally by Marcel Goc put Toronto away for good.

Campbell finished the game with two assists in the win, while goalie Tim Thomas was able to stop 20 of Toronto's 21 shots on goal.

Even though the Maple Leafs lost, netminder Jonathan Bernier may have actually been the player of the game considering how many shots he had to face. The 25-year-old goalie was able to make 44 saves in the game and ended up with a .936 save percentage.
