On Wednesday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be going up against the Detroit Red Wings in a game between two of the top five offenses in the NHL.

The Maple Leafs and the Red Wings have already played each other three times this season, with Detroit winning two of those games. The most recent meeting between these two was three weeks ago, when Toronto came away with a 4-1 home win over the Red Wings.

Maple Leafs right wing Phil Kessel has faced the Red Wings 13 times in his career, notching four goals and five assists against them. Goalie Jonathan Bernier has done pretty well against Detroit in his career, going 3-2-2 with a .917 save percentage and a 2.51 GAA.

On Sunday night, the Red Wings won their third game in a row when they beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 on the road. Their top performer in that game was center Pavel Datsyuk, who had one goal and two assists. Backup goalie Petr Mrazek was also solid by stopping 34 shots and finishing with a .971 save percentage.

Detroit has had one of the more complete teams this season, as they are in the top 10 in both goals per game and goals against per game. Veteran winger Henrik Zetterberg is having another solid season by scoring five goals and assisting on 19 more in 28 games. Goalie Jimmy Howard is 13-5-4 with a 2.21 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
