Friday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning will take the ice at the Prudential Center as they face the New Jersey Devils.

The Tampa Bay Lightning ended a 2 game losing streak with a 3 – 1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.  The Lightning fell behind in the 1st period after the Flyers took a 1 – 0 lead as the period drew to a close.  Early in the 2nd period, Steven Stamkos tied things up with his 18th goal of the season.  Less than 5 minutes later, Tyler Johnson put the Lightning up 2 – 1 with his 10th goal of the year.  Valtteri Filppula sealed the win with a late goal in the 3rd as goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy brushed aside 23 of 24 Philadelphia shots in his NHL debut.  Tampa Bay lost to New Jersey back in October but they will try to start a new win streak with a victory on Friday. 

The New Jersey Devils dropped their 5th in a row Wednesday night as they were shut out 2 – 0 by the Ottawa Senators.  Ottawa took the lead early into the 1st period and they held that 1 -0 lead all the way until the 3rd period when they tacked on another goal as the game drew to a close.  New Jersey had they chances throughout the game as they outshot Ottawa 34 to 16 but they also went 0 for 5 on the power play.  Numbers like that make it hard to win game and until the Devils find a way to maximize their opportunities, they will find it difficult to win games.
