The Montreal Canadiens were able to take a commanding 2-0 series lead against the Tampa Bay Lightning by getting the 4-1 win on Friday night. Montreal was not known for their offense in the regular season, but they have now put nine goals past the Lightning in two road games.

After no goals were scored in the first period, David Desharnais was able to get the Canadiens the lead two minutes into the second with a power-play goal. Rene Bourque stepped up next for the road side and scored off of assists from Thomas Vanek and P.K. Subban.

Montreal was able to get two insurance goals in the third period thanks to an unassisted tally from Brendan Gallagher and Rene Bourque's second of the game. Teddy Purcell was able to get one back for the Lightning through a power-play goal, but it was too late to make a comeback.

Bourque was easily the best offensive player on the ice for either team with two goals to show for it. P.K. Subban was solid for Montreal on both ends of the ice and ended up with two assists in the contest.

The momentum could have shifted quite a few times early in the game, but Montreal goalie Carey Price was able to make multiple fantastic saves to keep his side in the lead. Price ended up saving 26 of the Lightning's 27 shots on goal.
