It was only about a month or two ago that Detroit looked as if they'd miss the postseason for the first time since the 1989-90 season. As February roared in so did the old Red Wings as they've moved into the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference race. This is by no means cause to celebrate though as 4 teams are tied with 80 points with only two spots to fill. Detroit has 10 games left and literally each one is a must-have. Tampa Bay needs every win they can get down the stretch as well as they're currently slated to go on the road in round 1.

Tampa is skating well, going 5-1-1 in their last 7 with the loss coming in overtime. They've essentially turned around their season after going just 2-6-2 prior to that. The offense has been great, scoring 3+ goals in 9 straight games. As expected, total bets are soaring during that time with over bets winning 8 of the 9.

Detroit looks to help themselves after a two game losing streak followed by three straight wins. Both the Wings and Lightning will have scheduling going against them Sunday though as they both fly into Detroit from Saturday night road games. It will also be the third game in four nights for both teams which usually leads to fatigue and slow offensive charges or a tired defense that torches the nets.

Detroit and Tampa had a pretty good battle when they last took the ice on February 8th. The hometown Lightning were listed as -121 favorites even after dropping 4 of 5. Detroit had won 3 of 4 heading into the Olympic break and the +112 line was pretty salacious. As it happens, TB scored 3 straight goals for a 4-2 home win.
