The St. Louis Blues will try to snap their two-game losing skid when they go up against the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon. During the 2013-14 season, the Blues swept their two-game series against the Islanders.

The Blues lost their second straight game on Thursday night when the Nashville Predators defeated them 4-3 on the road. St. Louis lost that game despite outshooting the Preds 32-24 and winning 41 of the 69 faceoffs.

Through their first 26 games, the Blues have had one of the better defensive units in the league by giving up just 2.2 goals per game. Netminder Brian Elliott has an 8-4-1 record on the season with a shutout, a 1.82 GAA and a .931 save percentage. Vladimir Tarasenko has been their best offensive player by notching 16 goals and 12 assists.

On Thursday night, the Islanders won their third consecutive game when they defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-1 on the road. They were 1-for-3 on the power play in that win and their defense was able to hold the Senators to just 21 shots.

The Islanders have been able to score three goals per game this year while giving up 2.6 goals per game to their opponents. Goaltender Jaroslav Halak has won 14 of his 18 starts this season and has three shutouts, a 2.05 GAA and a .926 save percentage.
