St. Louis played like a playoff caliber team while taking their third straight game against the Predators when these two teams faced off last. Goalie Ryan Miller was playing in his third straight start after being picked up by St. Louis and seems to have fit in well. With 20 saves, he started three and won three, helping the Blues to a 2-1 win over the Predators.

Starting things off for the Blues was Ian Cole with a goal 4:03 into the first period. Steve Ott won a face-off in the left circle, Cole took control of the puck and managed to beat goaltender Pekka Rinne with a wrist shot that came in high on the far-side. Later in the first, from the right side boards, the Predators' Patric Hornqvist pushed a pass out in front where Nick Spaling was there to get the puck past Miller's right shoulder, scoring his 11th goal of the season. The second period only saw one goal by Magnus Paajarvi, scoring his 6th goal of the season. Assisted by Romoan Polak, Paajarvi took a wrist shot from the right side that beat Rinne to put the Blues up by one.

At 15:27 of the second period, Alexander Steen found himself just about ready to get a breakaway chance, but was stopped with a hook from behind that resulted in a penalty shot. Steen bared down on Rinne with a wrist shot from the right side that was denied with a glove save.
