On Thursday night, the St. Louis Blues will be going up against the Nashville Predators in a game that will feature two of the best defenses in the league

In their first game against each other this season, the Preds were able to defeat the Blues 4-3 in St. Louis. Both teams' goalies played well in that game and the Predators ended up with a 35-29 shot advantage.

Blues goalie Brian Elliott has 5-3-0 against Nashville in his career with two shutouts, a solid 1.84 GAA and a .931 save percentage. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko has five goals and 12 points in 11 games against the Predators, while center Alex Steen has been able to notch 10 goals and 10 assists against them in 31 games.

On Tuesday, the Predators had their four-game winning streak snapped when the Carolina Hurricanes beat them 2-1 on the road. They had just one power play opportunity in that loss, but they did have a 33-25 shots-on-goal advantage.

Through their first 24 games, the Predators have the top rated defense in the league by giving up just two goals per game. Veteran center Mike Ribeiro has seven goals and 12 assists this season, while defenseman Shea Weber has contributed six goals and nine assists in 24 games. Netminder Pekka Rinne is 16-4-1 this season with two shutouts and an excellent 1.83 GAA.
