The St. Louis Blues will be visiting the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night in a game between two of the best teams in the Western Conference. Last season, the Blues were able to win both of their games against the Canadiens.

On Tuesday, the Blues had their three-game winning streak snapped when they were shut out 2-0 by the Boston Bruins. St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott allowed just two goals in that loss, but he only faced 17 shots on target.

The Blues have the best defense in the league right now by only giving up 1.9 goals per game. Left wing Jaden Schwartz has had a solid start to the season by accumulating seven goals and 11 assists. Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk has scored one goal and he currently leas the team in assists with 15.

The Canadiens' long winning streak came to an end on Tuesday night when they were shut out by the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 on home ice. They were 0-for-3 on the power play in that loss and they couldn't score despite outshooting the Penguins 27-22.

The Canadiens have their winning record this season despite only scoring 2.6 goals per game. Left wing Max Pacioretty has been their top point contributor so far this season by scoring eight goals and assisting on eight others. All-Star defenseman P.K. Subban has five goals, seven assists and an even plus/minus through 20 games.
