Only one spot remains in the Western Conference playoff race and it comes down to Dallas and Phoenix battling it out. The Stars draw a tough matchup as the #1 team in the conference comes to town with St. Louis still having an outside chance to catch the Bruins for the top seed throughout the playoffs. Depending on how the schedule plays out, the Stars may just have to wait until their final game of the year at Phoenix to see who goes to the postseason in a winner-take-all battle.

The Blues will be coming into Friday's game on the second leg of a back-to-back schedule, having played in Minnesota on Thursday night. The Blues may be letting Boston escape with the President's Trophy and instead downshifting and getting prepped for the playoffs as they only went 2-3 to start April including three straight defeats at the hands of Colorado, Chicago, and Washington.

Dallas plays the Blues Friday night to wrap up a 3-game home stand, one that comes after playing 6 of 7 away from the American Airlines Center. The Stars went a respectable 4-3 over that span and must avoid the look-ahead jitters with a Sunday game in Phoenix likely determining which team plays on and which goes home.

Dallas has actually beaten the Blues the last two times they played each other, both in St. Louis, pushing their record to 2-2 against the team this year. The only time the teams met up in Dallas resulted in a 3-2 Blues OT victory as +102 road dogs.
