On Tuesday night, the St. Louis Blues will attempt to snap their two-game losing streak when they visit the Colorado Avalanche. Their first game against each other this season was in early November, when the Blues pulled off a 3-2 win in the shootout.

On Saturday, the Blues lost their second straight game when the San Jose Sharks beat them 3-2 on overtime. The Blues didn't have a single power play opportunity in that game and ended up being outshot 30-20.

Through 33 games this season, the Blues have the top power play in the NHL by scoring on 25.4 percent of their chances with the extra man. Third-year winger Vladimir Tarasenko has scored 20 goals this season and currently leads St. Louis in points with 37. Netminder Jake Allen is 11-3-2 this season with two shutouts and a .907 save percentage.

On Sunday night, the Avalanche were able to win their second consecutive game when they beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in the shootout. They had just 23 shots on goal in that win, but they also went 1-for-2 on the power play.

The Avalanche haven't played good defense this season, but they do have one of the better penalty killing units in the Western Conference. Veteran winger Alex Tanguay leads the team in points right now with 22 by notching 11 goals and 11 assists in his 31 games.
