The St. Louis Blues, who are 8-5-1 away from home so far this year, will be going up against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. The Blues were able to win three out of their four games against the Avalanche last season.

On Thursday, the Blues scored four goals in the third period of their game against the New York Islanders to help them pull off a 6-3 home win. They score don both of their power play opportunities in that win and also finished with a 33-28 shooting advantage.

The Blues have one of the best power plays in the league right now while also giving up less than 2.5 goals per game to their opponents. Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk has been one of St. Louis' most consistent offensive players by notching three goals and 21 assists in 29 games. Goalie Brian Elliott has won eight of his 15 starts and currently owns a solid .931 save percentage.

On Thursday night, the Avalanche were able to snap their four-game losing streak when they beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in the shootout. Backup goalie Calvin Pickard was the top star in that win, stopping 30 shots and finishing with a .909 save percentage.

Through 29 games, the Avalanche have scored 2.5 goals per game while allowing their opponents to score 3.2 goals per game. Starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov has a 4-6-5 record on the season with one shutout, a 3.21 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
