Tuesday night, the San Jose Sharks will visit the Nation’s Capital as they face the Washington Capitals.  It will be a battle of two teams that have yet to lose a game this season.

The San Jose Sharks have been solid so far in this young season.  They have shutout both of their opponents this season and will take the ice in this one after beating the Winnipeg Jets last Saturday night.  In that game, San Jose goalie Alex Stalock made 30 saves to blank the Jets.  And he got early scoring from his offense to make things easier. San Jose scored 2 quick goals in the 1st period to jump out to a 2 - 0 lead.  Another goal late in the 2nd period secured the win for San Jose.  As if the Sharks’ scoring and defense wasn’t enough, they have been deadly on the penalty kill.  All of these things will make it tough for the Washington Capitals.

But the Capitals won’t be an easy opponent for the Sharks.  Washington will host San Jose after shutting out the Boston Bruins in Boston last Saturday night.  The Caps rode two 1st period Alex Ovechkin goals to a 2 -0 lead and never looked back.  Goals by Mike Green in the 2nd and Joel Ward in the 3rd just were icing on the cake.  Even though the Capitals are scoring, it’s the defense and penalty kill that could be the keys to their 1-0-1 record.  It will be interesting to see which of the two defenses in this game blinks first.  Whoever does might cost their team a win.
