The Los Angeles Kings avoided going home for the second straight game by beating the San Jose Sharks 3-0 on Saturday night. The Sharks lead the series 3-2 heading into Game 6 on Monday night.
The Kings looked like the more likely team to score right from the beginning and got their first reward for their effort eight minutes into the period when Tyler Toffoli scored his second goal of the series. Anze Kopitar doubled the Kings' lead four and a half minutes later when he was able to score off a rebound from Dustin Brown's missed shot. Jeff Carter finished off the scoring in the game with a power-play goal 22 seconds into the the third period.
Justin Williams may not have found the back of the net in the game, but he kept the pressure on the Sharks' defense by putting a game-high seven shots on goal. Los Angeles netminder Jonathan Quick had his first shutout of the series by stopping all 30 of the Sharks' shots.
San Jose goalie Antti Niemi had his worst game of the series and was pulled from goal after stopping just 16 of the 19 shots he faced for a poor save percentage of .842. Backup goaltender Alex Stalock came in and did a solid job by stopping all 22 of the shots that he faced.
