On Tuesday night, the San Jose Sharks will play their third straight road game when they visit the Florida Panthers. They played each other twice last season and were both able to pick up one win.

On Sunday, San Jose gave up three first-period goals to the Chicago Blackhawks and ended up losing 5-2 on the road. They lost that game despite getting 34 shots on goal and outhitting the Blackhawks 29-13 on the night.

The Sharks have had one of the better offenses so far this season by scoring three goals per game. Through 16 games, center Patrick Marleau has scored five goals and is tied for the team-high in points with 16. Goalie Antti Niemi is 6-4-1 record with a .915 save percentage and a 2.68 GAA.

The Panthers gave up six goals in the final two periods of their game against the Calgary Flames on Saturday and ended up losing 6-4. They did have four goals in the game, but they ended up goalless on their three power play opportunities.

Through 12 games, the Panthers have held their opponents to just 2.4 goals per game, but their offense has only been able to score 1.7 goals per game. Scottie Upshall and Brandon Pirri are tied for the team lead in goals with three apiece. Goaltender Roberto Luongo has a 4-3-3 record this season with a 2.31 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
