The San Jose Sharks will be playing in their first of two straight games against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night.

Last season, the Sharks had their way with the Oilers, winning four out of their five games against them. Their biggest win against them came at home late in the season when they were able to blow them out 5-1.

Sharks center Logan Couture has been able to score 10 goals in his 14 career games against the Oilers, while veteran Joe Thornton has accumulated 51 points in 45 games against them. Netminder Antti Niemi has liked facing the Oilers in the past, going 9-1-1 against them with a .906 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA.

The Oilers lost their 11th game in a row on Wednesday when the Winnipeg Jets beat them 3-2 in overtime. They did not play well on the offensive side of the ice in that game, finishing with just 24 shots on goal.

Edmonton's offense has only been able to score 2.2 goals per game this season while their defense and goaltending has allowed 3.4 goals per game. Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been one of their only consistent players by scoring six goals and assisting on 11 others in 24 games played. Goalie Ben Scrivens has a 4-9-3 record this year with a high 3.35 GAA and an .888 save percentage.
