On Saturday, the San Jose Sharks will head out on the road to face the Calgary Flames in a game between two very good offenses. The Flames were able to pick up a 4-3 shootout win over the Sharks in their first meeting of the year.

The Sharks scored four second-period goals against the Boston Bruins on Thursday night and rolled to a 7-4 home victory. They scored on two out of their four power play opportunities and ended up with a 44-24 shots-on-goal advantage.

Through their first 27 games of the season, the Sharks are third in the league in power play percentage by scoring on 24.7 percent of their chances with the extra man. Center Joe Pavelski has a team-high 12 goals this year and is tied for the team lead in points with 23. Goalie Antti Niemi has won 10 of his 20 games and currently owns a 2.56 GAA.

On Thursday, the Flames won their fourth game in a row when they beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in the shootout. Defenseman Dennis Wideman was the top star in that win by scoring two of the Flames' four goals.

The Flames have been able to score 3.1 goals per game this year while only allowing their opponents to score 2.5 goals per game against them. Netminder Jonas Hiller is now 9-6-1 on the year with one shutout, a 2.9 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
