The Pittsburgh Penguins were able to score two goals in the second period in Game 3 of their second round playoff series against the New York Rangers to win 2-0 and take a 2-1 series lead. The Rangers were given five opportunities on the power play in the game, but they couldn't convert and were shut out for the second straight game.

After no goals were scored in the first period, the Penguins went up 1-0 at the 2:34 mark when their superstar Sidney Crosby finally scored his first goal of the playoffs. The goal came after one of the Rangers failed power-play chances when Robert Bortuzzo found Crosby with a long pass and the center was able to get his shot past Henrik Lundqvist.

Later in the period, Jussi Jokinen was able to come out of the penalty box to steal a Rangers' pass and score an unassisted goal to double the Penguins' lead. It was the fifth goal of the playoffs for Jokinen and it gave Pittsburgh all of the insurance that it needed to win the game.

Marc-Andre Fleury came up big for the Penguins again in the game and had his second consecutive shutout in the series. He finished with 35 saves on the night after finishing with 22 saves in Game 2 of the series. It was the first time that the Rangers had been shut out in two straight games since way back in 1937.
