The Phoenix Coyotes played pretty well in the final two periods of their last game against the Nashville Predators, but that was only after the Preds started out hot with a three-goal first period. Only three combined penalties were committed in the game, and Phoenix ended up edging out Nashville in the shots on goal department 31-29. The final score ended at 4-2 in favor of Nashville.

The three first period goals that the Predators scored were by Nick Spaling, Mike Fisher and Gabriel Bourque. Spaling's goal was scored just a minute into the game and seemed to throw the Coyotes off until after the intermission.

In the second period, the Coyotes were able to get one back through a Mikkel Boedker goal, which was assisted by Antoine Vermette and Kyle Chipchura. Tim Kennedy scored his first goal of the season a few minutes later and Phoenix was able to close to within one.

With just a few minutes remaining in the game, the Coyotes sent their goalie to the bench to attempt to get the tying goal, but the plan backfired as Nashville defenseman Shea Weber was able to score into the empty net for the win. Weber was trying to just clear the puck from his own zone, but the puck bounced off of the boards perfectly and into the Coyotes' net.

Nashville goalie Marek Mazanec had 29 saves and a .935 save percentage in the win.
