The Philadelphia Flyers tied their series with the New York Rangers at three wins apiece by beating them 5-2 in Game 6 on Tuesday night.

Wayne Simmonds put the Flyers ahead with the lone goal of the first period with a power-play tally seven minutes into the game. Simmonds would find the back of the net again at the 1:32 mark of the second period off an assist by Brayden Schenn. Erik Gustafsson would put Philadelphia ahead 3-0 midway through the period before Simmonds scored his hat trick goal a minute later on the power play.

Carl Hagelin would get one back for the Rangers 13 minutes into the third period, but Claude Giroux quickly answered for the Flyers with an unassisted empty-net goal a few minutes later to make it 5-1. Mats Zuccarello scored with a minute remaining in the game, but it was too late as the Flyers held on for the three-goal win.

Simmonds was definitely the star of the game for the Flyers with his three goals, but Giroux was also excellent for the hosts with a goal and two assists. Philadelphia netminder Steve Mason stopped 34 of the Rangers' 36 shots in the win.

Henrik Lundqvist had a poor game in net for the Rangers, saving just 19 of the 23 shots he faced for an .826 save percentage. He was pulled and replaced by backup goalie Cam Talbot early in the third period.
