On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers will take their high-scoring offense on the road to face the struggling defense of the New York Rangers. Last year, the Flyers and the Rangers split their four-game regular season series.

The Flyers lost their second game in a row last Saturday when they were beaten 6-3 by the Montreal Canadiens on the road. Their penalty kill was at its worst in that loss, allowing Montreal to score on all three of their power plays.

Through 16 games, the Flyers are third in the NHL in scoring with 3.2 goals per game, but they have also given up 3.2 goals per game. Right wing Jakub Voracek has been one of the best players in the NHL so far this year by notching seven goals and 19 assists.

The Rangers had a very off game on Monday night when they were blown out 5-1 by the Tampa Bay Lightning on home ice. They did score on one of their three power play opportunities, but they were outshot 30-16 in the loss.

So far this season, the Rangers are near the bottom of the league in both goals against and power play percentage. Right wing Martin St. Louis, who scored the Rangers' lone goal in that game against the Lightning, has seven goals and seven assists through 17 games. Rick Nash currently leads the team in both goals (12) and points (19).
