Saturday night, the Philadelphia Flyers will start a short 2 game road trip by stopping at the Bell Centre to face the Montreal Canadiens.
The Philadelphia Flyers will come to Canada after playing at home Friday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. After taking on a mediocre Columbus team, the Flyers will try to steal a win against one of the better teams in the NHL. Philadelphia has had some troubles of their own this season but as of late, they have been playing some decent hockey. If Philadelphia plays as well as they are capable of playing, they could pose a nice challenge to the Canadiens. But the Canadiens won’t go easy and the Flyers know that.
The Montreal Canadiens didn’t encounter any real resistance against the Boston Bruins on Thursday night and they came away with a 5 – 1 win. Boston took the lead late in the 1st period but the lead withered in the face of a scoring onslaught by Montreal. The Canadiens scored 3 goals in the 2nd period and added 2 more in the 3rd to completely blowout the Bruins. Montreal outshot Boston 34 to 22 but they were just 1 for 5 on the power play. It was one of the better efforts from a Canadiens team that has been impressive so far this season but their power play unit still needs some work. With a 4 game win streak on the line, Montreal will try to make Philadelphia their latest victim.
