On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers will head out on the road to take on the Minnesota Wild, who have lost three games in a row. During the 2013-14 season, the Flyers and the Wild split their two-game regular season series.
In their game against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, the Flyers scored two-third period goals to send the game into overtime, then came away with a 4-3 win in the extra period. Right wing Jakub Voracek was their top player in that game, scoring two of their four goals.
Through 33 games this season, the Flyers have one of the top power plays in the league, but they are scoring just 2.8 goals per game. Voracek is now tied for the team lead in goals with 14 and has a team-high 44 points.
On Saturday night, the Wild lost their third game in a row when the Nashville Predators defeated them 6-5 in overtime. Left wing Zach Parise played well in the losing effort, finishing with two goals and one assist.
The Wild have had one of the best scoring teams in the Western Conference this season by averaging nearly three goals per game against their opponents. Netminder Darcy Kuemper is now 11-9-0 on the year with three shutouts and a 2.56 GAA. Defenseman Ryan Suter has just one goal so far this season, but he also leads the team in assists with 20.
