The Florida Panthers last played the Philadelphia Flyers back in late November when they were able to pull off the 3-1 home win. This was a game where the winning team didn't necessarily deserve the win, but they made the most of their opportunities for a hard-fought victory.

After neither team was able to score in the opening period, Sean Bergenheim was able to get two goals for the Panthers in the second. The first goal, which happened to be Bergenheim's first goal of the season, was at the 3:35 mark and came off of assists from Jimmy Hayes and Dylan Olsen. His second came about 10 minutes later when Marcel Goc was able to set him up for a power-play goal.

The Flyers were able to cut into the lead when Wayne Simmonds scored a power-play goal of his own off of assists from Scott Hartnell and Claude Giroux. Erik Gudbranson was able to score an insurance goal for Florida, though, with about four minutes left on the clock.

Bergenheim was playing in just his 10th game of the season after dealing with injuries for the better part of two years. His first goal was the first regular season goal that he had made in nearly a year and a half.

Tim Thomas deserved about as much praise for his performance as Bergenheim received because he made up for a lot of the bad plays that Florida made on the night. Thomas ended up stopping 38 shots in the win and ended up with a .974 save percentage.
