Saturday night, the Philadelphia Flyers will visit Sunrise, Florida’s BB&T Center to face the Florida Panthers.

The Philadelphia Flyers turned in a decent effort in their Thursday night game against the Tampa Bay Lightning but fell short in the  4 – 3 loss.  After falling behind 1 – 0 in the 1st, the Flyers tied it up late in the period.  But Tampa Bay scored the only goal of the 2nd and the first in the 3rd to go up 3 -1.  Philadelphia cut the lead to 3 – 2 and after Tampa Bay went back up by 2, the Flyers added one more goal late but it just wasn’t enough.  The Flyers have been slowly climbing back to respectability after a slow start but they regressed on Thursday.  Too many penalties and weak penalty killing doomed the Flyers.  They didn’t get away with that against Tampa Bay but Florida is a different team.

The Florida Panthers pulled out a 2 – 1 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night.  The Coyotes put up the 1st goal of the game late in the 1st but their lead was short-lived.  Florida got a goal from Brandon Pirri early in the 2nd to tie things up and midway through the 3rd, Scottie Upshall notched the go-ahead goal.  The stands were virtually empty to see a team that is having a rough time of it early on this season.  Florida doesn’t give up that many goals a game but they don’t score that many either. The special teams are lackluster and it doesn’t look like things will improve anytime soon.    The Panthers will have to hope that the Flyers play another sloppy game on Saturday.
