On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Flyers will be playing the Colorado Avalanche, who have won just seven of their 18 home games this season. In their first meeting this season, the Flyers defeated the Avs 4-3 at home.

The Flyers lost their second straight game on Monday night when the Arizona Coyotes beat them 4-2 in Philadelphia. Netminder Steve Mason struggled in that loss, finishing with just 21 saves and a low .875 save percentage.

Through 36 games this year, the Flyers are near the bottom of the league in goals against by giving up right around three goals per game. Right wing Jakub Voracek has been one of the better offensive players in the NHL this year by scoring 14 goals and assisting on 32 others.

The Avalanche played a poor game all the way around on Monday night and were shut out 3-0 by the St. Louis Blues on the road. They had just one power play chance in that loss and they were outshot 25-16.

So far this season, the Avs have scored less than 2.5 goals per game while giving up three goals per game. Left wing Alex Tanguay currently leads Colorado in scoring with 12 goals and he also has a team-high 24 points in 34 games played. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov is 5-7-5 this season with two shutouts and a 3.01 GAA.
