After a bizarre start to the last matchup between the Ottawa Senators and the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Senators pulled off a 5-3 win. Ben Bishop, playing for the first time with the Lightning since he was traded back in April, lasted less than two minutes in the game because his teammate Nikita Kucherov accidentally kicked him in the head. That play resulted in an empty net goal for Marc Methot and ended Bishop's night. 

After Bishop was replaced by Anders Lindback in the net, the Senators kept up the pressure, which ultimately led to Erik Karlsson's 13th goal of the season late in the first period. Alex Killorn scored for the Lightning early on in the second period, but Zack Smith's goal off the crossbar and Kyle Turris' one-timer later in the period made it 4-1 for the Senators. Bobby Ryan made it 5-1 for the home team before Tyler Johnson and Victor Hedman scored two late goals for the Lightning.

Senators goalie Craig Anderson had 38 saves in the game, while Lindback gave up four goals on the 31 shots he faced. Turris ended the game with a goal and an assist, and teammate Spezza ended up with two helpers of his own.

Injuries were the story of this game, though, as not only did the Lightning lose Bishop to the head injury in the first period, they also lost top scorer Valtteri Filppula to a lower-body injury early on in the second period.
