The Ottawa Senators will head out on the road on Wednesday night to take on the New Jersey Devils in a game between two of the lowest-scoring offenses in the Eastern Conference. The Devils beat the Senators 3-2 in overtime in their first meeting of the season.

The Senators scored two third-period goals on Monday to send their game against the Buffalo Sabres into overtime, but they ended up losing 5-4 in the shootout. Their power play was very poor in that loss, finishing goalless on their five opportunities with the extra man.

So far this year, the Senators are averaging just over 2.5 goals per game and they are giving up nearly three goals per game to their opponents. Defenseman Erik Karlsson leads the team with 20 points this season, but he also has the worst plus/minus with a -12.

On Monday night, the Devils lost their fourth game in a row when the New York Islanders beat them 3-2 in the shootout on the road. The Devils were outshot 33-28 in that loss while also losing 30-24 at the faceoff dot.

Through their first 32 games this season, the Devils have one of the better power plays in the league, but they are also one of the lowest scoring teams. Their top scorer is left wing Mike Cammalleri, who has 11 goals and four assists. Netminder Cory Schneider is 11-14-3 this season with two shutouts, a 2.61 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
