The Ottawa Senators will take on the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night in a game between two struggling offenses. During the 2013-14 season, the Oilers were able to win both of their games against the Senators.

On Tuesday, the Senators lost their third consecutive game when they were beaten 4-3 by the Vancouver Canucks in overtime. They were lucky to get one point out of that game as they ended up being outshot 37-24.

Ottawa has scored 2.7 goals per game this season while giving up 2.4 goals per game. Their top offensive contributor has been left wing Clarke MacArthur, who has seven goals and four assists in 15 games. Veteran goaltender Craig Anderson has a 4-2-3 record on the season with two shutouts and an solid 1.96 GAA.

The Oilers gave up three first-period goals to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night and ended up losing that game 3-2. They were 0-for-2 on the power play in that loss and they only ended up with 23 shots on goal.

Through 16 games, the Oilers have only been able to score on 12 percent of their power play opportunities. Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has had a pretty good start to the season by scoring five goals and assisting on six others. Goalie Ben Scrivens is 4-7-0 with one shutout, a 2.93 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
