The Ottawa Senators will face off with the Calgary Flames for the first time this season on March 5. In a match-up of Eastern versus Western Conference teams, the Flames will look to continue their trend of good play and try to move closer to the .500 mark. The Flames are currently sitting in the sixth spot in the Pacific Division. They've been playing well over the last month and are currently 7-3 before the game against the Minnesota Wild. Ottawa is also sitting at sixth in their division as well. The Senators haven't been playing as well over the last month and are hovering around .500 since the end of January. They'll be looking to get in the win column and stay there for a while.
With the trade deadline approaching this match-up could look a bit different when they meet on the ice. Michael Cammalleri could be on the trading block. At 31, he'll add more offensive depth to a team as opposed to being the main option. Another possible mover is Lee Stempniak for the Flames. Although he's not worth a great deal, he could add depth to another team as well.
Since 2009, these teams are 3-3 against each other with Ottawa winning the last two matchups. However, these teams haven't met since the end of 2011 so they'll both be looking to start new trends against the other.
