Tuesday night's matchup between the Rangers and Canucks is important for both teams for very different reasons. New York is headed to the playoffs barring an absolute collapse, but want to win to keep a hold on home ice for the first round. Vancouver is battling for their playoff lives in each and every game, currently trailing by 5 points for the last slot with only 6 games to play.

New York has been playing excellent hockey recently, winning 5 straight games and 6 of 10 overall. Actually, that could be misconstrued as underachieving considering the Rangers were favored in 9 of those tilts. Strong offense has been the key with New York scoring 3+ goals in five of the last six games led by Derick Brasard's four goals and three from Rick Nash.

Vancouver made a full time goaltender switch coming out of the Olympic break but its not going to equate to a postseason berth, or so it seems. Eddie Lack has made all 15 starts since Sochi with the Canucks going 7-7-1 over that span. Vancouver has actually won six of their last 10 including three road wins as underdogs but it may be too little too late. Counting the New York game the Canucks have only 6 games left, although five are in the comfort of Rogers Arena where they are 18-11-6 this season.

Chris Kreider's hat trick keyed New York in their last matchup with Vancouver back in November. The Rangers scored the first four goals of the game and held on for a 5-4 win at home as +105 underdogs.
