On Sunday night, the New York Rangers won 3-1 over the Pittsburgh Penguins to pick up their second straight victory in their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup to force a Game 7. The Penguins outshot the Rangers 37-29 on the night, but they committed too many penalties and faced extremely tough goaltending in the loss.

Martin St. Louis once again stepped up for the Rangers and put them on top three and a half minutes into the first period with a shot that got past Pittsburgh's goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Carl Hagelin would double the hosts' lead three minutes later when he scored his fourth goal of the playoffs on an unassisted tally. Penguins center Brandon Sutter cut New York's lead to just one late in the period off of assists by Matt Niskanen and Olli Maatta.

Derick Brassard would score the final goal of the game midway through the second period to give the Rangers the huge two-goal win.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had his best game of the series so far by stopping 36 of the Penguins' 37 shots for a .973 save percentage. The 32-year-old netminder was particularly good in the second period when he was able to stop multiple Pittsburgh breakaways.

Fleury didn't play poorly in net for the Penguins, but he would have wanted to stop more than 26 of the Rangers' 29 shots n goal in the game.
