The Pittsburgh Penguins continued to play well on both ends of the ice on Wednesday as they beat the New York Rangers 4-2 and took a 3-1 lead in the series. Pittsburgh won 31 of the game's 49 faceoffs and outshot the Rangers 27-15 in the win.

Evgeni Malkin scored his fifth goal of the series two and a half minutes into the first period off of a pass from Sidney Crosby. Carl Hagelin was able to tie it up for the Rangers five minutes into the second period, but the Penguins would answer later in the period when Brandon Sutter scored a shorthanded goal.

The Penguins opened up a 3-1 lead at the 7:02 mark of the third period when Jussi Jokinen scored his sixth goal of the playoffs. Six minutes later, Mats Zuccarello made it 3-2 when he scored off of an Anton Stralman pass, but Chris Kunitz would quickly restore Pittsburgh's two-goal lead, which they were able to hold onto the rest of the way.

Malkin ended up with a goal and an assist in the win, and Crosby had two assists for the visitors. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury only stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced, but his defense played excellently in front of him.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had one of his worst games of the playoffs so far, stopping just 23 shots and ended up with an .852 save percentage.
