The New York Rangers were able to pull off the 4-2 home win in Game 5 of their series with the Philadelphia Flyers to take a 3-2 series lead.

The only goal in the first period was scored by Marc Staal at the 11:53 mark and was assisted by Martin St. Louis and Derek Stepan. Brad Richards doubled the Rangers' lead eight minutes into the second period with his second goal of the series. Dominic Moore scored his second of the series on an unassisted tally 16 minute into the period, but the Flyers would get one back to make 3-1 when Vincent Lecavalier scored a power-play goal with just over 30 seconds left in the period.

With about a minute and a half remaining, Philadelphia's Claude Giroux brought the Flyers back to within one when he scored off of assists by Kimmo Timonen and Wayne Simmonds. The Flyers got a few more chances, but Rangers center Brian Boyle scored an empty-net goal to put them away.

Moore finished the game with a goal and an assist for the Rangers, while St. Louis finished with that assist on the first goal and four shots on goal. New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist ended up saving 24 of the 26 shots he faced for a .923 save percentage.

Philadelphia netminder Steve Mason had 18 saves and finished with the loss.
