Tuesday night, the New York Rangers will make the relatively short trip to the Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils.

The New York Rangers will look to build on their big win Sunday afternoon over the San Jose Sharks.  The Rangers won that game 4 – 0 after a solid effort on both ends of the ice.  After the teams played to a scoreless tie in the 1st period, the Rangers broke the game wide open in the 2nd.  Carl Hagelin opened the scoring just past the midway point of the period to make it a 1 – 0 game.  About 6 minutes later, the Rangers got goals from Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash in the span of 4 seconds.  The Rangers added a 4th goal in the 3rd to put the game away for good.  As they take on the Devils, New York will be looking for their 3rd straight win. If they play another complete game like they did on Sunday, the win streak will continue.  But the Devils will try to prevent that.

The New Jersey Devils took a 4 -2 loss in their Saturday meeting against the San Jose Sharks.  The Devils lost their home opener after coming out of the gates slow.  San Jose put up a goal late in the 1st period and another late in the 2nd to enter the 3rd period up 2 – 0.  They went up 3 – 0 early in the 3rd before the Devils responded.  Goals from Mike Cammalleri and Adam Henrique cut the lead to 3 – 2 but a late San Jose goal sealed the victory for them.  New Jersey can’t afford a slow start against New York.  If the Devils let the Rangers open up a big lead early, the momentum might be too much for the Devils to contend with.
