The last time the New York Rangers played the Montreal Canadiens, they were able to get the 1-0 win after fans were treated to two solid goaltending performances. The two teams had a total of 66 shots on goal, but just one second period tally made it to the back of the net.

Rangers right wing Ryan Callahan scored the lone goal of the game five minutes into the second period. It was Callahan's sixth goal of the season and came on the power play off of assists from Brad Richards and Derek Stepan. After the Rangers got the two-man advantage, Richards took a slap shot, which deflected off of Callahan's goal and into the back of the net.

Rangers goalie Cam Talbot was able to get his first shutout of the season after making 22 saves in the win. New York scored just its first goal in four years when playing in Montreal.

Talbot may have been the winning goalie, but Montreal netminder Carey Price may have had the better game. He was able to stop 33 of the 34 shots he faced for a .971 save percentage. He kept the Canadiens in it throughout and just that tipped in goal from Callahan was able to get past him.

With the Rangers' win, the two teams are now tied 1-1 in the season series going into their final matchup on Saturday.
