The Montreal Canadiens were able to send their Game 4 matchup with the New York Rangers into overtime with a third period goal, but the Rangers ended up with the last laugh as they scored in the extra period and won the game 3-2. New York now has a 3-1 lead in the series and can move on to the Stanley Cup Finals if they win on Tuesday night.

The lone goal of the first period was scored by Carl Hagelin, who gave the Rangers the lead with his sixth goal of the playoffs on a shorthanded tally. Francis Bouillon would tie the game up eight minutes into the second period, but the Rangers would retake the lead through a Derick Brassard goal with just a minute left in the period.

Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban scored a power-play goal just two minutes into the third period, which eventually forced overtime.

In the extra period, Martin St. Louis scored the game-winner with his sixth goal of the playoffs. The veteran right wing was able to grab a loose puck in front of the Canadiens' net and put it home to give the Rangers the huge win.

Henrik Lundqvist was solid in net for the Rangers in the game, saving 27 of the 29 shots he faced for a .931 save percentage.

Montreal center David Desharnais had two assists in the losing effort, while netminder Dustin Tokarski made 26 saves.
